fold AA to scary board against push? (not interested in PF)
This is a $55 MTT, just before the first break.
Villain is very tight. Earlier he raised UTG, I min-reraised with AK, he pushed and I folded. He showed QQ. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (8 handed) SB (t6090) BB (t2420) UTG (t4435) UTG+1 (t2170) Hero (t3555) MP2 (t3346) CO (t3995) Button (t1009) Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] . UTG raises to t300, 1 fold, Hero raises to t500, 5 folds, UTG calls t200. The minraise was because of the afforementioned hand. I wanted him to see that as weak again and go OTT. (The first minraise was to see what Mr. Rock was raising with UTG, and the 2nd was a setup after the first. Not interested in more opinions on that. Read on.) Flop: (t1150) 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG checks, Hero bets t700, UTG calls t700. Turn: (t2550) K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG bets t3235 (All-In), Hero ??. EDIT: Note that i'm getting better than 2 to 1, cuz he has me outchipped. I have to call my remaining 2300 to win 5K already in there. |

Re: fold AA to scary board against push?
A tight villain just raised UTG. He likes his hand. Stacks are fine for a push, just push.

This is bad. Raise more preflop so you can shove the flop.

Re: fold AA to scary board against push?
Yeah well actually a smaller raise is fine too. A raise to like t850 could be alright as well. Bad players like to "see a flop".
Although this is a $50, I guess it isn't full of complete retards, and villain doesn't sound like an idiot. I would certainly shove AK here. So I shove AA too. |

Re: fold AA to scary board against push?
I explained the reason for this minraise on the flop. It was a setup from the previous hand. I'm really interested in opinions on the turn.

Re: fold AA to scary board against push?
It's a call. A lot of times this is a hand that crushes you, scared of draws, aiming to shut the hand down. A lot of other times, it's stuff like A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] + pair, QQ, etc. etc. so, getting more than 2:1, it's a call.
FWIW, that you've explained your reasoning for pf doesn't make it suck any the less. He came over you last time because he had QQ and you made a bad fold. That doesn't mean he's coming OTT this time whatever his holding. He'll come OTT with QQ again but not a lot of his pf raising range whatever your history but he'll call a raise, maybe more likely to if he thinks you're annoyed about the last hand. If you make it 900, he's still coming OTT with QQ. |

[/ QUOTE ] The point is that if you play better PF and on the flop, there won't be anything to say about the turn b/c all your chips will be in the middle or the hand will be over. |

Re: fold AA to scary board against push?
Min re raise sucks. Go to 900 pre flop AA or AK, push is too much for the blinds / stack sizes.

Preflop raise to like 1k and shove the flop.
