Re: AK unimproved
I like it. He should be betting any PP on the river anyway (not to mention the turn) so you valuebet a worse Ace.

standard for me always, sometimes i think a check-raise would be sexy but i never do it.

Re: AK unimproved
He is obviously looking for a SD with an A or possibly a low PP. He is gonna bet his PP's and check worse A's so it looks like a pretty standard value bet IMO.

Re: AK unimproved
pegboy there is a serious flaw in how ur looking at these situations. Us being out of position here is pivotal, we dont need to be a greater than 50% favorite against his range that calls or raises a river bet for betting to be best.
what the best line here depends on is how often he ll bluff if we ck, how often he calls with a worse hand, or how often he checks behind a better hand. |

Re: AK unimproved
What's with all of this value betting? There is value in the bet if the villain has a weaker ace and calls more than he has a pair or made hand. Equate that with the times he raises leaving our hero deciding whether to call the raise. So how much value is there? The notes are few and point to a player who is what? Aggressive? Dumb? If he capped preflop with a pp he may be scared you have a Q or overpair. So he wants to get to the end without further investment. If he's too aggressive why is he not betting the turn? Maybe he doesn't want to lose you.
The river bet is only good if he calls with a weaker hand more than the times he calls with a stronger hand or raises. May we not earn more EV if we check the river and give this guy a chance to bluff-bet with a weaker hand? Or to check with a better hand? I check the river given the information provided by the OP. |
