The Run
(i was gonna put this in the monthly thread but then it got longer so here it is. if a mod wants to move it there, whatever.)
im really not sure what to say anymore. i might have reached the end of my poker rope. this is hard to take. ive resorted to everything and anything. im tired of saying im running bad so i dont really know what to say now. i study the game everyday, i work hard. i evaluate myself. im mentored by one of the most successful hsnl pros on these board but i. cant. win. anymore. every week seems just like this. and then there's the long run... since novemberish. i have hundreds of thousands of hands winning. i just dont remember what its like anymore. im desperate. im tired. i just dont know. |

Re: The Run
what im getting out of this is that you have had a 35k hand downswing?
that sux but it happens. if you want drop down to rebuild confidence, post hands, just keep going. theres a reason poker players are called grinders. |

85k hands of breakeven. the 10k from the top screenshot isn't on this graph. |

Re: The Run
Yeah tighten up for a while and move down to 50nl for a while. 85k breakeven is pretty sick, but I think it can definitely happen for a decent winner. My longest is 45k and 17 buyins.

Re: The Run
I don't play on Stars so I haven't played with you recently, but I do remember playing you a decent amount at 2/4 on Party before legislation (I was NEWPPSNKTHX if you remember), and you were pretty spewy although I definitely regarded you as a tough player. Perhaps you're spewing too much? This is a really serious problem for a lot of good players who spew too much (I'm guilty of it as well). Many times the best way to increase your winrate and reduce your variance is to try and limit your losses from hand to hand.
I went through a really rough stretch at the end of last year where I dropped about 7k at mostly $2/4 (a little $3/6), then an additional $2k after dropping down to $1/2. I've more than recovered from it, but it was the worst stretch I've ever experienced (25 buyins to be exact). Here was a graph of the destruction. Hope you get out of the downswing dude, gl. |

Re: The Run
Tighten up and play really ABC is the quick recipe. For most SSNL'ers 16/12 is more profitable than 23/18 anyway (add more tables to keep your effective VPIP the same and to reduce variance).
Stats look semi-decent (too passive on turn/river though), but it's only 10k and blablabla. |

Re: The Run
Have you taken a nice long poker vacation? At this point, that's what I think you need.
IMO it would be unwise to blame an 85k flat stretch on variance. That's why I think you need to take a few weeks off. Get recharged, maybe nice & rusty. Come back refreshed & playing bad and you're in a good position to get better. |
