Beat : Stepmom or her relatives scammed me good
I am a sophomore in college, and before I left for school my Dad got me a credit card to use in emergencies. I have never used it and dont' even have it in my possession (it's at his house which is about 4 hrs away from where I am). He always told me it was safe and hidden, so obv. it was quite a shock when I received a call from Visa claiming I owe them 1200 dollars. Apparently someone had used MY card in November to pay a Utility bill (400+ dollars) and continued using the card for Gas/Fast foods/etc.. until early December, when the card was maxed out and quit working. The lady I called at hte fraud agency said the laast attempt was declined at a bar on Dec. 8th. So basically they ran up a huge debt under my name, and told no one about it, and I had no clue about this until 12:00 today. I have already called my dad (I know he would never do this, so he is not a suspect) but i wouldn't put it past his wife or any of her family members (They are all very poor and pretty low class people, another beat... my dad has bad taste in women). I haven't filed a police report yet at the request of my dad, but this whole situation obviously pisses me off as it could potentially ruin my credit and they stole from me.
Cliff notes : Dad's wife or her family members potentially scammed me. I am pissed. update to follow. |

As long as the person(s) who used the card are not authorized and did it without your knowledge, your total obligation will be $100 or less (I think it varies from state to state).
Your step-relatives suck if they did this, however having an emergency credit card that's four hours away sounds amazingly stupid to me. SpaceAce |

Someone did this on my mastercard. I told them it wasn't me, signed a paper, and had no liability.

Why would you have an "emergency" credit card that you couldn't use in an emergency? Does your dad have financial problems\bad credit? |

Man, I would go 100% apeshit if someone in my family ran up my credit card.
Police report, charges, jail, the whole [censored] works. I'd give your dad I day to hand you $1200 in cash to make things right, otherwise you file a report. |
