I\'m a stoopid noob with top 2 sets
Party Poker
Limit Omaha Ring game Limit: $2/$4 9 players Converter table full of loose passives. i only have about 1000 hands of O8 under my belt. figuring there's little chance of anyone making a low, my dumb butt decides to slow play to lure in some callers. Pre-flop: (9 players) Axiom27 is MP1 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, Axiom27 calls, 3 folds, Button calls, SB calls, BB checks. Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5SB, 5 players) SB checks, BB checks, UTG+1 bets, Axiom27 calls, 3 folds. Turn: J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3.5BB, 2 players) UTG+1 bets, Axiom27 calls. ugh. raise, call, fold... all seem horrible options. i have 8 outs here right? i guess i'm pot commited with implied odds. River: 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5.5BB, 2 players) UTG+1 bets, Axiom27 folds. Uncalled bets: 1BB returned to UTG+1. Results: Final pot: 5.5BB berate me please so i won't do this again. |

Don't beat yourself up too badly, even if you had raised on the flop I doubt he's going anywhere with a wrap or OESD.
One thing, since you called the turn I might pay off the river as well. He only has to turn over something like ATT2 or AQT3 one time in six to make calling +EV. |

Re: I\'m a stoopid noob with top 2 sets
if this were PLO8, things would be more interesting i suppose. i'm curious how i should have played it plo8 sytle:
say he leads that flop with a small bet, do i pot it? if he calls pot bet on flop and checks the turn, do i pot it again? or say he leads the flop with a big bet? what's my line? if he checks the flop?? i |

Re: I\'m a stoopid noob with top 2 sets
If he led the flop for the min. bet I would pot it back at him shutting out the low draws along the way. If he called that and checked the turn I would bet a little bit over half the pot. If he calls that I'm done unless the river pairs the board of course.
If he pots the flop I would try to get all the money in the middle, because even if has a wrap our hand still has a decided edge: Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 820 enumerated boards containing Ts 5c Qd cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV Qc Jd Qh Jh 454 454 357 9 0 0 0 0.559 9s Kc Jc Ah 357 357 454 9 0 0 0 0.441 If he were to check the flop along with everyone else you have to put them all on low draws or flop whiffs and pot it. |
