nearly 1 in 6 get 44k. what a sweet deal. do they always pay this many people for the wpt championship?

why cant tourneys just have standard 10% payout, why do they have to worry about catering to all the satellite winners

This is a business. If it wasn't to their advantage, they would not do it. If it is the case that this is not really to their advantage, they will learn over time.

I would say a minority of the poker playing public share your opinion. You may be biased in thinking a majority share your view, because many people at this site do share your view.

The more people who win $ will probably end up coming back to play in more events. if 100 people get at least 44k I'm sure a few of them will put aside a buyin or 2 for the actual events.
