Gavin Smith says No Deal
With the $5000 buy in tourney paying 36 spots, with 41 players left a $10,000 save was offered to players in 37th-41st place in Reno. ($50K off first prize). End the bubble early and keep play moving, right? Gavin is on a short stack and says NO.
I could see objecting as the big stack- bubble time is great for stealing- but as a short stack don't the poker gods frown on this? I guess we shall see.... |

Re: Gavin Smith says No Deal
Gavin Smith is bad ass. Think what that does for his metagame.

Re: Gavin Smith says No Deal
They're at the bubble right now - next one out is 37th, and Gavin has been all in twice and survived.
If he bubbles, that will be enough irony for everybody there. |

Re: Gavin Smith says No Deal
I would think this would be standard for most pros on the bubble, even a smallish stack. He doesn't care about his buy-in. He wants a bigger stack, the way to do that is on the bubble.

Re: Gavin Smith says No Deal
Make that three times - he chops with Barry Greenstein with KK vs KK

Didn't know he was THE shortstack. Change my mind from standard to badass.

Re: Gavin Smith says No Deal
He wasn't THE shortstack when the deal was offered. He lost a big pot after rejecting it, leaving him with 7500. He doubled up twice since then. The bubble hasn't burst yet, though.
