Default JJ on the button...1 left to the money

Local B&M tourney, $105+15 buy-in, t3000 starting chips, 107 players.

We're down to the bubble, 19 players left with money at 18. Blinds are 1500/3000. I have a healthy stack at ~t40k. Table has been semi-tight once we got down to 20 players and we've been playing hand-4-hand at least an orbit or so.

Folded around to MP2 who raises t8000. Folded to me on the button and I look down to see J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I see the SB/BB are ready to muck. No read on MP2's play as I was moved to the table 15 minutes ago. I have him covered though, as he has about t30k.

What's my line?

Push, especially since you have him covered.

you have him covered. it's on the bubble. you have the fourth best starting hand. he raised for 20% of your stack.

very very very standard push.

He could call with overs but you want to win or just make the money?

That was my instinct as well but I was little gunshy because of another JJ hand I posted in another thread.

I decided to just call with position and hope for a rag flop or a set. As expected both blinds fold and it is HU.

Pot is t20,500 w/ 2 players.
Flop: K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

MP2 checks, Hero raises all-in

I think if he had a made hand, he would have bet to protect against the flush draw. My read is that he is weak and scared of that board, so I moved in. Any thoughts?

mehhhhhhhhh

i really don't like the way you played.

you should have pushed preflop. on this flop, i would check it through to induce a bluff/value bet from hands we are beating, considering hands that are beating us aren't folding anyway (except MAYBE QQ).

Thank you, seriously. I posted this because I wasn't thrilled with my play either and wanted to get constructive feedback to find my leaks.

MP2 ended up quickly mucking, so I took the pot.

Edited to add: BTW, I final tabled this and went pretty deep. When we got down to final four, blinds were t5000/10,000. Chip leader had about 10bbs, me and another guy had 8bbs, and the shorty had 6 bbs. We decided to chop the $7100 prize pool four ways: $1400 to the shorty and $1900 each for the remaining 3. The shorty had the button next but was willing to deal and the chip leader was okay with it too. 2nd place money would have been $2000 anyways, so I thought it was good chop.
