Default Is never turning on the chat a disadvantage ?

I have never really played with it on and I was wondering if it matters either way? May I be losing any information without it? Well except for the free laughs you get from especially from the low limit allstars .

If you're a newbie, you might be better off keeping it off.

If you're experienced, turn it on.

If you tilt easily, definitely keep it off.

It's an advantage to keep it off.

I'm too frikkin lazy to do it myself, though.

It is kinda nice knowing that when you are running bad and all the bad players are hitting every flop turn and river against you that you cannot hear a peep cept my bitching aloud

i'm a tilter - the combination of turning off the chat and emailing party to remove MY chat has helped me a great deal. i can type all the [censored] talk i want - no one sees it, and i never have to get needled when some fish caps 2 streets with a gut draw, rivers it, and types ty

balki - even with it off this still sounds tiltish to me. But if venting into your muted chat-box helps you then go for it.

I think that any player who thinks it could put them on tilt would be better with it off naturally.
But if you don't think it bothers you then I do believe having it on can be a good info source sometimes.
Much of the time it doesn't make a damn bit of difference (especially if everyone is quiet anyway).

But even the slightest, 'OMG' at one little bad-beat can let you know who is steaming.
I don't take many notes on my opponents...but if someone is a table-coach or a bad-beat whiner I will make a note of it because it tells me as much about what kind of player they are as the cards they show.

I believe you underestimate your capacity for tilt.

I like to have mine on so that I can see who at my table cannot deal with poker pain. I then target them and will perhaps advertise a successful bluff against them. If they are still stinging, this will make their head melt and pour off their shoulder as lava explodes out their neck. Then I will rarely bluff this person again.
