Paradise Poker 3/6 Hold'em (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. CO posts a blind of $3.
4 folds, MP3 calls, CO (poster) checks, Hero calls, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (5 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, MP3 bets, CO folds, Hero?

Am I stupid for thinking anything other than raise right now?

I'm thinking "damn, I wish the board wasn't so connected" You gotta raise here I think. That said, the pot is fairly small, so I don't HATE a slowplay. However, if SB and BB will sometimes call 2 then I raise for sure.

Raising here only play right? You dont want the flush or str8 to get there.

There were a few reasons why I nearly didn't raise the flop here.

The flush will always come along no matter what.

So many of the straights are screwed by my Q.

The pot is small.

Any way, I raised, both blinds fold and MP calls.

Turn is a blank and MP folds to my bet.

can't remember who originally said it but I'll repeat the times and places where you slowplay a set:

There we go. Any questions, go to www.howtoplayaset.com and look really hard at the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

That being said, Villain goes nuts with raising and the good lord knows he might have flopped the boat.

Slow playing a set and slow playing trips are different. I think there are times where slow playing a set is a good idea, especially when the board is uncoordinated and the pot is small.

However, since the board is so coordinated and we only have trips, I agree that raising is the best play here.
