Default Picking off isolation plays?

You know the situation, you have AT on the button with 2800 chips, blinds 100/200 and somebody pushes for 580. You are all ready to apply the shovinsky when someone (who has probably read Harrington or thinks they know something about Gigabet's 'block theory') with a stack similar to yours beats you to it.

I have noticed that the quality of hand pulling this move ranges from PPs to K-rag-A-rag. And now I am getting pretty stellar odds.

Squeeze the trigger? What factors need to be considered?

Good question.

You have 2 types of players that do this who you can exploit IMO.

Type 1: The fish who will call with A6 because it is a good hand.

Type 2: Your HOH reader who will do this with A9-KQ-22 because he knows the pusher has a wide range.

And then you have Type 3: Soild multitabler who simply plays his cards and will not do this with less than AJ+

So the tough part is telling the difference between 2 and 3 as the #1 fish should be easy to spot...

I actually think the solid multitabler will fall into #2, but you are right. I guess it is player-dependent.

If you have AT, player 2 has KQ and the original pusher has 22, you're only 35% to win this hand. You definitely need a better hand than AT to go with here.

There's no way I'd even think about picking off an isolator with AT. You are behind the range of anybody with a clue that's isolating.

Are people really isolating with KQ in the CO with 14 bb's? That just seems way too aggressive.

i also would wanna know the stack sizes and positions of players and how soon blinds are going up

if folding this will leave me as the low guy with 7bbs when blinds go up before my next turn, then i don't have so much equity after folding and the blocker kills shorty and there are still 5 people left; lots of stealing and/or doubling up to get itm then

if i call and win, then i'll have over 6500 chips...

basically, if there is a 10k stack, my 2800, the blockers 2800, the pushers 580, and 2 1k stacks, then blocker's range needs to be wider for me to call here than if the stacks are 4.5k/4.5k/4.5k/2800/2800/580
