I think I like this move. You say villain is a decent player, so he has AA, KK, QQ or AK. We can rule out QQ, and I like the semibluff against the other hands.

hes fairly aggro too, and could definitely re raise something like 99 or AsTs pf

dont know if hed continue with those, just saying his range pf is wider than premos

Well then I don't like it nearly as much. Now he could have JJ or JQ and he calls with those alot more times than he calls with AA or KK, so if he calls, you're crushed most of the time, and you're still a little behind for the rest of the time.

I'd rather you just lead for 2/3 pot and call a raise.

Running the board here is the lesser of two evils. If villain checks behind on the flop you see a turn for free and can fire a bullet then, UI. I like.
