accidental 53 cards
club game in ny i'm playing tonight and theres three to the flop in a raised pot. im the raiser and IP. utg weak leads, mp calls, i shove.... mp announces there is a misdeal. i completely ignore him. until he pushes his cards forward face down and his cards have too different backs. the deck has 53 cards. the idiot dealer somehow put a card from one deck into the other. dealer calls floor. floor (who really isnt that bright) says he's gunna chop the pot and end the hand. i stand up say BS thats wrong and if he does it i'm never playing there again ( i wont play again anyway ). i say the hand continues, the kids hand is dead. dealer offers mp money back out of his pocket. mp agrees. utg calls w/ flush draw and sucks out. anyway.. is that the most rediculous thing ever said by a floor person? or am i wrong? my position is that with that much action in the hand its impossible to "chop the pot" and make the everyones hands dead. whats the call? |

Re: accidental 53 cards
Its actually a pretty standard ruling that if a card with a different colored back appears that the hand is void and money is returned to the players (not a chop, but return of actual bets). I would be inclined to not let the player who had the bad card get his money back since he waited until there had been a lot of action before raising the issue.
However the hand does not continue in this instance. |

Re: accidental 53 cards
If the MP acted with what he knew was a illegal hand, he should forfeit the money he put into the pot, and it should be split between those still in the hand. But you shouldn't play out a hand dealt with a 53-card deck. End the hand as soon as the error is discovered and return everyone's bets (except for the player who acted in bad faith). |

Re: accidental 53 cards
The deck is fouled, hand over, bets returned.

Re: accidental 53 cards
What would happen when, in the process of dealing, the dealer comes to a card with a different back? Could he/she just toss it aside and continue dealing, or is it an immediate misdeal?

Re: accidental 53 cards
dunno but the backs were both shades of red so it wasnt very obvious, if it were me i never wouldve known as i only ever see the back of my top card.

The deck is fouled, hand over, bets returned. [/ QUOTE ] Isn't this ruling completely standard? I can't believe this didn't happen, regardless of what the OP wanted. The floor must have been pretty terrible. |

[/ QUOTE ] immediate misdeal , cards are returned to the dealer/deck, the deck(s) removed by the floor and the dealers second deck/ new setup is counted and brought into the game |
