Default NL50 Top set against maniac

Villain is 42/17/3. I almost never slowplay, but should I give a maniac more rope or is the texture too scary:

Poker Stars, $0.25/$0.50 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 8 Players
LegoPoker Hand History Converter

BTN: $93.30
SB: $22.80
BB: $28.50
UTG: $67.80
UTG+1: $29.50
Hero (MP1): $49.25
MP2: $91.80
CO: $59.85

Pre-Flop: A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (MP1)
UTG raises to $1.50, UTG+1 folds, Hero raises to $5, 5 folds, UTG calls $3.50

Flop: ($10.75) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
UTG bets $5.50

Results: $10.75 Pot ($10.75 Rake)

I'll probably catch a little flak for it, but this is one of the few spots I like a min-raise. A call or a real raise will scare him off mediocre hands. A min-raise looks like you're the scared one, and he might try and push you off. If he has a real hand, it's all going in anyways, and this lets him think he can push you off w/ a weaker holding.

I either call or, like seki says, min raise. If a safe card comes on the turn he gets no more rope. Actually if an unsafe card comes I probably still make a big bet or raise because you still have a ton of outs if needed. More rope on the flop no more rope on thr turn.

OOoooh...I like the min-raise option. Gets a nice big pot going, and our hope here is to get it all in the middle anyway...nice suggestion. I think it's especially true given the rather weak bet by the villain.

Are u serious? Min-raise? I would raise it up to 17$ because I can't give odds to flush or straight draws.

guy weak leads you in a 3 bet pot, hes either got AK, a set, or a less likely FD. If not hes an idiot and hes acting like he wants to get money in. raise that [censored] to 15+ and get it in on the flop/turn.

The idea of min-raising is like making a mistake to give him the opportunity to make a bigger mistake, which might be no mistake at all.

The draws are, in a way, less dangerous than against normal players.

In a way, though, they are even more dangerous, as the maniac will play a lot of suited and connected trash that other players wonīt play.

But then again, if he is a true maniac (not sure here) he is not folding TP2K (or maybe worse) anyway, so the percentage he shows up w/ a made draw isnīt very high.

This is not because he has the draw less in absolute numbers, but less in relative numbers as he doesnīt fold the other garbage like badly dominated hands and so. Even better, the flush card etc. doesnīt kill our action against a maniac when we are ahead.

I've never liked the minimum raise since I started playing no limit.

I raise, make it $11.05. I fail to see why this texture is scary. He could have a flush draw but it's not likely and even if it hits the turn you have the Ac plus a house draw and the only straight draws he could have are gutshots.

Raise to $15 and push the turn.
