10-20 How good/bad is this bluff?
10-10-20 Full ring live. New table, ~15 hands in, never played with any of them before. Effective stack is my ~$2K. I thought villain was a solid, tight player.
UTG+1 limps/opens for 40, Hero in Hijack raises to 120 with AKo, Villain in BB calls, UTG+1 folds, heads up. Flop ($300) 962r Villain checks, I bet $200, Villain calls. Turn ($700) Q rainbow, Villain checks I check. River ($700) J board is QJ962r Villain bets out $400, Hero pushes for about $1200 more. Comments? |

Re: 10-20 How good/bad is this bluff?
bad. what are you representing? from villain's perspective your line looks like classic "nuts or nothing": you basically either have a set or air, if he's a solid player as you say he should be able to figure this out. getting better than 2-to-1 i'd look you up with any pair. |

Re: 10-20 How good/bad is this bluff?
Its quite likely villain has spiked a set too in this hand, only hand that wouldn't and he would bet the river is KK or a whiffed 78s. Don't see much value betting TT or 88 on the river as villain against an unknown. But its live so he might fold 66 right?

Re: 10-20 How good/bad is this bluff?
He's not folding much after his c/c, c, then lead river line as a tight player getting 2-1, given that I do not like it much.

This is pretty bad. You're not repping anything and you know nothing about the villain that you're making this play at.

Re: 10-20 How good/bad is this bluff?
Ok, thanks for the input. I'm relatively new to this level, I've recently moved up after killing lower level games for a little while.
[ QUOTE ] I thought villain was a solid, tight player. [/ QUOTE ] Fortunately, this read based on just looks was way off, and villain was a very poor player for these stakes, but in a weird aggro/illogical way, not in a calling station way. He said "ok you have a set of Queens" and folded and then said he had AJ. When I thought about it after my session I realized it was probably a stupid bluff and I got lucky. |

Re: 10-20 How good/bad is this bluff?
Isn't this a reasonable representation of JJJ? Not saying I like the bluff just that I don't see how people can say we're not representing anything... I thought that was a pretty standard pot control kind of line after a call on such a dry flop. |
