straight meets 3rd flush on river again
stats over +-100 hands
BB = 87/26/0.66 do I need to say more BTN = 66/20/1.29 and is the king of (backdoor) draws CO ($0.94) Button ($1.17) SB ($2.42) BB ($8.19) MP3 ($2.03) (Hero) Preflop: Hero is MP3 with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero raises, 1 folds, Button calls, 1 folds, BB calls, Flop: 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ( 3.2BB ) BB bets, Hero raises, Button calls, BB calls, Turn: 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ( 6.2BB ) BB bets, Hero raises, Button calls, BB calls, River: A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ( 12.2BB ) BB checks, Hero ??? I've been crushed by so many (back door) draws on the river the last 2 days that I have become result oriented. I'm not sure what to do here anymore. I got a feeling I'm calling them down to much on the river. I think I should b/f but maybe c/c is better. |

Yeah, the river is an easy bet.
But I was wondering why you raised the flop??? |

Re: straight meets 3rd flush on river again
i don't see the value in raising pf against these guys since you have no showdown value and they're folding so rarely. flop raise is bad. i b/c the river against these idiots ("i has a pair of aces! i raise!").

Re: straight meets 3rd flush on river again
Preflop raise is fine. Even if they're not folding, you've got a good hand to play with that is still in very very good shape against their hand range. Flop raise is bad. Taking a stand against an aggro player with J-high is bad. Just call and get your raises in when you have a hand.
Bet-call the river. |

Re: straight meets 3rd flush on river again
I bet the river and call a raise. Villain only needs to be bluff-raising the scare card (or just raising with set/two pair) 6.6% of the time for this to be a profitable call.

* grunch *
This is no backdoor flush completing on river. The draw was there on the flop. I'm pretty sure we beat BB here. BTN is relatively aggressive for a player with that high vpip. Bet and call. That ace will hit their hands nicely and actually makes it a little less likely you are against a flush here. You might get a raise from a pair of aces here a lot of the time on this level. You still have to give some credit to a raise though as BTN cold-calling flop and turn does seem to indicate he could be on draw, most likely FD. |
