Steal attempt from the BB on the bubble?
This is a $1 tournament, and we are about 5 from the money. I had been playing pretty tight with very few possibilities to steal presenting themselves. The player who limped was in early position but had limped into about half of the pots regardless of position, and I had also seen him/her fold many times to large raises. My thinking was that with about 1500 in the pot I could move in and pick it up to increase my stack to 5700 from the 4200 it was after posting the blind. (blinds 200-400) I have read several posts on here recently as I try to improve my game and continually read the comments of "play to win," "don't be afraid to bust trying to accumulate chips," etc and this was part of what was driving my logic. Any comments would be helpful; this is my first actual post of a hand so any advice on the actual posting could be help too. Thanks.

Re: Steal attempt from the BB on the bubble?
hand converter
dont post results i like this play but not with this hand and not against this opponent. first, she is limping with a wide range of hands, personally, i wait to shove with TJ+ and PPs. second, she is a big stack and can easily call your shove. id like it a lot better if villain had a stack of 6-9K. |

Re: Steal attempt from the BB on the bubble?
you are right to go on your reads(but please try not to include results, although he has shown up a very mediocre hand, as it does influence replies).
BUT... your stack size is just a bit small to make this play. His range, although wide, will often be calling here as your raise is simply not damaging enough for his stack size, less than %20 of his stack, ESPECIALLY AS THERE IS NO ONE ELSE LEFT TO ACT. with a stack of around 10,000 this is a much better play as he will fold a lot more of their wide limping range. as to your hand, going with your reads does in thoery mean you can move here with atc but i your equity is much increased by hands even such as 45 or 87, 84 is just too horrible. fold here and shove atc into the 6k stack next hand. |

Re: Steal attempt from the BB on the bubble?
sorry... steal attempt from the BB in a $1tourney against the big stack is not good. If the guy had about 6k, maybe.
