Default low pocket pairs preflop?

okay, this may sound like a dumb question but whenever i have low pockets and when i say low i mean 9's or lower.

now when i have these cards i tend to not like to raise pre flop....because i think the return on these cards aren't as profitable as other hole cards preflop.
i mean ill call a small raise with them but not raise with them because i feel that they arent as good as everyone puts them up to be.
am i playing these cards wrong or just being stupid about the whole idea i have on them?

Raise when you come in with them. If you are not comfortable 3 betting then you dont have to, but at least call all reasonable bets pf as long as villain has roughly 12x the amount of his bet in his stack.

in an unraised pot, I raise with pp's, no matter what they are, every time. C-betting the flop will take it down much more often than not.

If someone has already limped, with lower pairs <6's, i will sometimes limp behind to nail my set, but with 7's or higher will usually pop it up to 4bb+1bb per limper

Besides, it is much much more likely you will stack an opponent in a raised pot than it is in a limped pot. And like it has been said before, even when you miss, a c-bet will work more often than not to take the pot down for ya.

Always raise, 3bet if the pot is already raised. However just call in the blinds.

If you raise and you get 3bet, then fold.

Raise to:
- Buy position
- Steal the blinds
- Increase your fold equity post flop
- Make the pot size so it's much more likely you'll get it all in if you flop a set + some one else makes top pair
- Make them think you're full of it when you're dealt AA next hand and raise just like you did with 22.

You might be surprised as to how many people seem to get tilted by c-betting a lot.

Many of them, rather than doing the smart thing and playing back at you lightly and often, end up choosing a hand to make a stand on and will stack off with very little. I've taken down a lot of BB's by spiking a set and watching someone freak out at me continuation betting on a board like 267 (because how could I raise with a hand that hit that board?). They've thrown it all in with AK.
