Default Minbettors at heads up nl hold\'em sng\'s. How to beat them?

This might be an old subject but also the questions and the perceptions about these players have given no help.

The like always minbet and minbet a lot on all kind of flops so first thing is, it's extremely hard to get a read on them. Also, at the blinds so low, they are risking less than a regular nl hold'em player. only a minbet. The plus side of this style besides of previously mentioned is that they have time to wait for a good hands.

Isnt that a funny feeling how they constantly outdrawn you. When they do minbet every flop and tend to make loose calls to a raise, they "good" player becomes frustrated and starts to repop with carbage. In that way he's risking a lot more with crappy hands. They are saying that minbettors are donkeys but actually, they become the donkeys. Hard to play when card dead. They minbet with gutshots, open enders, lowers pairs, medium pairs, top pairs, monsters? and with nothing.

I think its kind of confrontation between mediocre nl hold'em player and fixed limit player. Both "styles" have their plus sides and downsides. the minbettor doesnt protect his hand because of his small bets. With minraises, the other player has almost always odds to call.

They are not the worst heads up players. The easiest HU player to beat is a superagressive player how cant read opponents, gives away tells, and always risks more than he has to.

There has to be a some kind of strategy that works against these minbettors players. Good replies are needed.

1) Is there any tells that those players usually give?
2) Is it possible to play small ball against these players?
3) What kind of hands am i committed to see the river?
4) Do they like to play big (raised) pots?
5) Which is better?
* To see cheap flops and limp a lot from the button?
* Play agressive and raising preflop and play small ball?
* Change gears to limit style?

I played a test game once, and what i found out that these players are pretty loose and they play a large range of hands (like any picture with rag etc). They dont want to fold to raises. I think even a donkey starts to get a read when he's constantly raised. I think those players are used to get raised because of their frustrating style. Many times i repop on the flop and get a call. U have to repop them at least 2 times before they fold.

One thing also. its not wise slowplay against these players cause their minbets dont give the best value. I want to raise not later than on the turn.

I want to get discussion opened cause even if these players are relatively rare (and that's why even good players have trouble dealing with them) they pop up every once in a while.

I think the basic thing despite of the style and the stake is that i dont like to underestimate my opponents.

First off, i do minraise at some levels in a HU, because it as you have stated I'm not risking that much and i mostly can outplay my opponent preflop.

Yes, you can smallball them. In general I think it doesn't matter how much a villain raised preflop, but how wide his hand range is and how he plays.

First thing you should do at the early stages is getting a feel for his style (not only against minbetters, but against any kind of players). Do they respect your C-bets? Do they call down with bottom pair? Do they fold to second barrels? Do they tend to C/R?

If, like you said, someone calls with gutshots, fullpot him on every street when you got toppair.

If they are passive callingstations just calling down with crap, raise preflop with hands that are above there range and if you don't hit, don't c-bet. If you hit, extract the max by potting it.

If I raise pf otb and get a minbet into on the flop I treat it as a check, if I was going to raise I do if not I call the minbet. When I raise a habitual minbettor I usually get a fold, if they start to call light I stop raising wait till I get a hand and then bet.

call them lots, raise them big on the river lots. pretty easy to deal with i feel, though it does tilt the hell out of me when they keep getting there i must say.

I love these players, they make me laugh. I wish everyone played like this. I think it gives you the edge because it allows you to play a lot of smaller pots instead of being forced to play big pots with marginal hands against a maniac, (or being forced to play push-fold).
