Monitor resolution has gone to 1440 x 900 and I can\'t fix it
I use dual monitors (22 inches, 1680 x 1050 native)
i update my ATI drivers last night and now one of my monitors is at 1440 x 900. Not the resolution via Windows, rather its the monitor iteself (like when you click on the monitor's menu). The other montior is fine though (1680 x 1050). Any advice? Customer support is non existent. |

Re: Monitor resolution has gone to 1440 x 900 and I can\'t fix it
Well, if you weren't having problems with the drivers before you can simply rollback to your prior set-up and wait for a patched set-up. Or perhaps roll-back and then try and re-install the drivers to see if the problem continues. Other than that, I dunno.

Re: Monitor resolution has gone to 1440 x 900 and I can\'t fix it
Did you check your device manager and make sure everything is recognized properly?
if so, roll back you drivers through the device manager, if that fixes it, try reinstalling the new ones one more time. If that messes up again, roll back and stay there like Nsight said. |

Re: Monitor resolution has gone to 1440 x 900 and I can\'t fix it
Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager > Display adapter > right click your display adapter > properties > driver tab > roll back driver.
I'm just curious. Where did you go to update your driver? Did you go to ATI, your computer manufacturer's website, or your video card manufacturer's website? Some card makers require you to use their drivers, not ATI drivers. I know Asus and Evga have drivers specific to their cards. Installing the regular ATI drivers will cause problems. |

thanks
used ATI for drivers. i have a 1950 Pro. I'll try Sapphire (manufacturer). a friend recommended i just uninstall and reinstall new driver rather than rolling back (after i asked him about rolling back). agree? |

Re: Monitor resolution has gone to 1440 x 900 and I can\'t fix it
I would roll back and see if that works at least. Then you know you know you can always go back to that driver if the one from sapphire doesn't work. I can't think of any reason not to roll back other than losing 5 minutes of your time.

Also, for instance, if you rollback, and the problem doesn't disappear, you know you have a more serious problem on your hands.

Re: Monitor resolution has gone to 1440 x 900 and I can\'t fix it
ok, i did so many things that i don't remember what i did (rollbacks/uninstalls/omega drivers). i ended up just using ATI's drivers from last year. don't know if that's best but i get the right resolution. thanks.
