I'm thinking about taking my game to a new level by getting a statistics tool to analyse my play. The tricky part is that I don't have Windows, nor do I plan on ever getting one. So far I've tried numerous applications and I've found that most of them are either Java or .NET based, neither of which will work with wine (windows emulator). Only one so far that I've managed to get working is PokerStat, but it only supports PokerStars. That is not really a problem since that is where I plan on playing for a while now. However I would like to hear your suggestions on the matter. Particularly I'd be interested in a online tool where I could upload my hand histories if there is such a service. I'm looking for something like Poker Tracker as far as features go.
Apps I've already tried: Poker Tracker Poker Office Poker Academy Prospector Poker Evolver Holdem Indicator Holdem Hawk Poker-Spy Any ideas? Especially I'm interested if there are those web based thingies since my googling has not turned out anything yet. |

I asked the same question a couple of days ago, and was recommended to use vmware, in combination with linux. Sounds like a good idea. You could create a partition with winxp and PT on it.

I would recommend using VMware, too. That's what I've been doing for the last year. Before that, I did manage to get Pokertracker to run on wine but I remember it took a good bit of tinkering for it to work with stars.

On a Mac I use Parallels (similar to VMWare) to run PokerTracker. it works fine and I'm sure it'll work on Linux too. You'll need a copy of windows though. I run VMWare server on a Linux machine running multiple copies of windows and have had very few problems with it. VMWare server is free.
I run PostgreSQL on the Mac and PokerTracker connects to fro the virtual machine. This lets me query the database from other tools while the VM isn't running. I wrote some tools to extract the data and export it in FTP notes format so I could get information in the native FTP mac client for example. |

Thanks guys for the suggestions. WMWare might be an opion, but it would require a major hardware upgrade. So far SpokerStat is looking like my best shot.
[ QUOTE ] what poker sites are you playing with linux? [/ QUOTE ] For now mainly PokerStars and OnGame. Later maybe FTP if I get the client running better. |

I've been told there are ppl here who are running PT on wine. I installed it and when I run it I get a msgbox saying:
"Unable to connect to the PTREG2 database. +.9,9 - The allocation of the environment handle failed" Then it just dies on me and I get in the command line window this: "fixme:keyboard:UnregisterHotKey (0x60058,1): stub" Does anybody know how to fix this? |

After some serious tinkering I finally managed to get Poker Tracker running in Linux with wine. I found a really good howto which I will link now here for the next Linux user to find with the search feature:
