I dont want to play 88 for set value here, so is 3betting here ok. And do we give up after he calls the cbet?

What's wrong with playing 88 for set value given that the limper is almost always going to call if you do?

I think 88 is a good hand that we can play for more than set value only, but we need the initiative in the hand to do so.

Eh, it doesn't seem that different from ATC once you 3-bet, honestly, unless you happen to hit a set anyway.

There's nothing wrong with 3-betting a button steal with 88. Calling is okay too and due to the limper Imight prefer that as buttons range is smaller. Betting flop is good.

I think it's fine once in a while to 3-bet 88. Though I prefer someone with a bigger ATSB

pre-flop is fine IMO. (not saying calling is bad, but to say 3-betting is wrong is false I think).

bet less on the flop. a bet of $20 accomplishes the same thing as $27.
