Finding a Job with a Startup
I'm looking for any tips for finding a job with a startup. I have an entrepeneurial mindset and hope to have a startup of my own someday, but in the meantime, I would like to work for one for both experience and because I know I will enjoy it more than corporate America.
I have searched CL, Monster/Careerbuilder, etc., but all I find are jobs with established companies. Is there a very limited amount of these openings, or am I just looking in the wrong places? My background is in accounting/finance, fwiw. Thanks! -Craig |

Here in DC there are TONS of startups near the Dulles tech corridor. Check this out to start: http://www.startupweekend.com/ |

Re: Finding a Job with a Startup
Goblin-
I work in internet marketing, and have a lot of friends that are developers. I've been doing some job hunting myself, and am trying to decide which company to work for next. Here's another good resource I found: Refresh. I'm attending the DC meeting this weekend, but they have them in the chicago area as well: http://www.refreshchicago.org/ Lots of techie developers/startup type people at those. I've also run across venture capital groups that host networking parties. Someone posted this link a few minutes ago, and I found it really insightful for job hunting, since i'm really confused with where I want to go next: http://blog.pmarca.com/2007/10/the-pmarca-gu-1.html IM me if you'd like - I'm actually originally from Chicago and thinking about moving back there. My AOL IM name is the same as my screen name here. |
