But school shootings seem like they happen with greater frequency in the US than in other places, no?

Maybe. They may just actually make the media coverage here as well. I doubt CNN would bother to cover a school shooting in another country (well other than the UK and Canada). This is just my opinion -- no real factual support.

It would be fair to say that the frequency of events has increased in the last 15 years or so in the United States.
