Default Monitor not working, please help!!!!

so I just got this brand new 22'' widescreen monitor as a gift and i'm having some troubles getting it up and running. I have two primary questions:

1. Where would one go about finding widescreen drivers? The computer starts loading windows, everything looks fine....then it says out of range. my video card supports resolutions much larger than the screen, but i'm thinking it's just lacking the correct update for ws compatibility. Card in question is an nvidia geforce fx 5200. Just downloaded the most recent geforce fx series update and that didn't do it. I hope this is not the case but am assuming there is also a chance that widescreen is flatout not supported on this card. That would truly suck.

2. There is one dead pixel. I know most places don't honor returns for this kinda thing so is there some way to fix this?

thanks to any for helping.

1 dead pixel on a 22" is actually a pretty good deal. Most big monitors have at least a couple dead pixels. Try not to focus on it.
