Default A9o in BB, losing value on the river?

Is this an easy check on the river? I wouldn't hesitate to fold to a cr if I bet.

PokerStars 1/2 Hold'em (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG calls, 3 folds, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (3 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, UTG folds, SB calls.

Turn: (2.50 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls.

River: (4.50 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: 4.50 BB

I think you played it fine. You're not folding a better hand and he probably won't call with a worse one.

Youre behind a random hand on the river, so I highly highly doubt you have the best hand when you get called often for a bet to be correct.

Easy check on the river, the only reasonable worse hand that could possibly c/c on his range is 86

I play this the same way. Most other cards, you can safely value bet the typical fish.
