Default Slooooow burning, jittery DVD

HI all,

The past 4-5 months I've been using my DVD burner a lot to both rip DVDs onto my computer and burn DVDs. In that time period, everything went really well and I don't think I made 1 coaster the entire time...every DVD came out perfect. Just recently, I've tried burning DVDs using 1clickcopypro, ConvertXtoDVD and Nero 7. With each program, the DVD takes more than 2 hours to burn, even when initial estimates say that it should only take 30 minutes. Not only does it take longer, but the end result is very jittery. I have no programs runnings in the background and have tried many different types of DVDs. It's definitely the burning process where I'm having problems, not any kind of transcoding going on. When the DVD starts to burn, the D drive will start up and the fan kicks on...then it will pause and the fans shuts off. It does this every 10 seconds or so and lasts throughout the entire burnings process. Also, I'm still able to rip DVDs which turn out fine...although it's taking much longer to rip them as well.

Is this just a result of my DVD burner failing? Any advice would be great.

Thanks
