6-max $24, down to 22
580 started, ITM. Avg stack 45K, I haven't seen villain get out of line yet, average aggression, has a small profit (2Kish, 11% roi in 400 tournies).
800/1600 200a, 5-handed at this point, villain (65K) raises utg+1 to 4,100 (standard), I'm next (73K) and call on the button w/A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], the rest fold. Pot is 11600: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Villain bets 7000, I raise to 20,000, he thinks for two seconds and pushes for 41K more, I fold. Hate. If you're gonna raise the flop in this situation, you should be intending to call a shove.

Re: 6-max $24, down to 22
Calling is OK, arguments can be made for 3-betting here, it's 5 handed and you can fold out a good chunk of his raising range from UTG+1 (A10, KQ, QJs, pairs up to 88).
Honestly, I'm too busy checking out that rack that keeps jumping up and down on the screen. That's just ridiculous. Anyway, on the flop, I like a flat call because if you RR, you commit yourself, and if he's an average TAG, you aren't getting anymore out of him with a better hand given these stacks. You're really not deep enough to RR without a plan to get it all in against what you may presume is a hand that is ahead. So, you smooth call, and the pot is now 25K and he has 54K behind. That puts him in an awkward spot and you can gauge if your hand is better on the turn with position. Barry |

Barry nailed it... especially the part about Bob's dist-rack-ting avatar.

Re: 6-max $24, down to 22
No real reason to raise the flop unless you are worried about him hitting a 3 (or 6 if he has KQ) outer against you. If he has AQ,AK he only has 3 outs and he is very likely to let you know on the turn. His PPs are already drawing to 2 outs or have you in bad shape.
So we can raise the flop to protect our hand against a likely 3 outer, but I don't see how it is a raise for value. Anyhow, I probably call the flop and re-evaluate on the turn. If I call a turn bet after a blank and he fires again on a river after a blank, we have an easy fold. I might even fold the turn to a PSB. Sherman |
