Affect of previous weak play
I was not sure where to post this, but this is probably a good spot. I am not sure how to deal with the affect of my previous weak play even though I am much much better. Like most people when I first started I made lots of mistakes. But then I studied, read a few excellent books (80% 2+2), and in general made great strides forward. I am finishing in the money in about 1/2 this $16 sngs I play in, and finish 1st quite often. Not enough samples for clear statics, but I have clearly improved a lot. And I have done this fairly quickly. Now here's the problem.
Because of my previous bad play my numbers are not very good yet. Good players using tracking software will be attracted to my tables, talking about ring games now, and make winning a lot harder. Because even though I have reached a point where I can beat really bad players, I am still not good enough to beat really good players. So if I am in a situation where I feel that some better players have attached themselves to my table should I just leave and find an easier game, or is there some strategy I can employ to take advantage of the fact that I am probably a lot better than they think. Thank you |

Re: Affect of previous weak play
I would definatly try to exploit the fact that they percieve you as weak and if they begin to see through that simply switch tables.

Re: Affect of previous weak play
The best way to get a good player to avoid you is by taking their money.
Seriously - long term you'll have to play against better and better players to make good money playing this game, so you may as well start learning how to beat people with positive IQs now |
