Live 2/5 Bottom Two Pair On Ugly Flop
Villian is one of the better players at this live 2-5 nl game. He's smart and tight enough that I don't think he'd play two small hearts or Kx hearts from early position.
3 limpers in front of me. I call from the small blind with Qd Tc. BB calls. Flop: Ah Qh Th Pot: $25 I bet $15 (to see where I am). BB folds. UTG+1 calls. The rest fold. Turn: 2s Pot: $60 I bet $45 (because I believe villian is drawing). UTG +1 calls. River: 7s Pot: $150 I check (because I don't believe I stand much to gain by betting). UTG+1 bets $75. I make a crying call hoping to see a busted flush. (Perhaps something like like AxKh or KhQx.) Is this a bad call on the river? Should I have checked the flop because my position sucks? Any other suggestions welcome. |

Re: Bottom Two Pair On Ugly Flop
I like the bet on the flop, but I would make it bigger ($20-25), too many hands have draws. As played I am not a fan of the call on the river, after he smooth called you twice. At a minimum he has TPTK beat, and probably your two pair. Turn play is tough-but after he called you I think you are done.

Re: Bottom Two Pair On Ugly Flop
Pot flop and turn, make villain pay for drawing. Although this is live so it probably doesn't make a difference. The call on the river is offering enough odds for me to call. This could easily be a A with a heart draw. If this is a smart player as you suggest, he's not playing KJ like this. I don't mind calling here. Checking river is fine I don't think much calls you here that you beat.
