Doubtful I Will Play Any More WCOOP Events.
The $200+15 rebuy event of WCOOP started at 8pm British time.
I ran good and got lucky during the early levels and had a pretty big stack during the middle stages. I built on this by winning a couple of races and cold decking a couple of big stacks. But by the time we got down to the final 3 tables it was already 8am! I was exhausted, I couldn't think straight and was making terrible decisions. I managed to fluke my way down to 15th by drinking copious amount of coffee and having the window wide open on a freezing cold morning. My run couldn't last.. I made an awful call and couldn't suck out. But now, after the 3 days it has taken me to recover I am getting a bit angry.. Is it not ridiculous to have an online poker tournament last for over 18 hours? (The heads up finished at 2.22pm UK Time). It's not about poker skill, it's more about endurance.. and that isn't how it should be IMO. Playing for such for such long stretches only encourages account sharing.. the original player tires after 10 hours and a well rested friend takes over. The structure if these events are awesome.. the fields are very soft and the tournaments great value. But with the fields being so damn big isn't it time for the events to become two day affairs? Stopping for day 1 perhaps when the bubble bursts or even when it gets down to something like 4 tables would be much preferable than the current state of affairs. I've passed on the $1k no limit event tonight and unless I totally change my sleep patterns by next week I will almost certainly pass on the main event too. I guess that will last in excess of 20 hours. |
