Default NL 200: Playing KK v. Wet Boards

The following is a hand that I read about elsewhere about a live 1/2 NL game. I think it presents an interesting hand to dissect street by street when two deepstacks collide in a multiway pot with a coordinated board.

"LP" is in late position. He starts the hand with $1000 behind. He is tight, aggressive, and very solid.

"BB" is in the BB. He also has $1000 behind. He plays loose preflop, but he excels at hand reading and post-flop play.

In the hand, after UTG limps, there is a caller, and a mininum raise to $4 when the action gets to LP. He pops it to $16.

All fold to BB. He holds K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. BB elects to call. The UTG player and the limper call; the "min raiser" bows out. Four players see the flop with $69 in the pot.

Question 1: What do you think of BB's flat call with pocket Kings from OOP with 3 players left to act?

Now let me set out the flop, and then we'll reserve the action and the subsequent streets until after some comments.

The flop is 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Everyone checks to LP, the preflop raiser. He bets $75.

Question 2: What should BB do now with his overpair, a highly coordinated board, and two live players behind?

Pre-flop is horrible. What is the purpose of playing KK so passively this deep? To hit top set and overset someone?

As played probably fold the flop...

Preflop is awful.

Is there any merit to leading flop, since we've disguised our hand already?

This sums up my feelings exactly. I hate the preflop call. With this flop, I'd bet out for $50 -$70 to put pressure on the preflop "limpers", the two who are more likely to have drawing hands that connected with this Board. If they want to continue drawing, that's ok, but now they have to worry about what LP is going to do when the action gets to him. Thus, at this point, I'd want to get this hand heads up with LP as soon as possible.

Although there have been only 3 responses, my guess is that there will be a consensus criticizing the preflop call by BB. So let me move on to the remaining action on the flop and then set out the turn.

BB decided to call LP's $75 bet. The two limpers folded. BB and LP saw the turn heads up with a $219 pot.

The turn was the Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. The board then read as follows:

9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

BB checked, and LP bet $200 into the $219 pot.

Question 3: What do you think about LP's call on the flop?

Question 4: What should BB do now?

Sooner he folds the better IMO.

BB is digging himself deeper into an awfully played hand. Fold.

raise to like $80 preflop.

Again, we're on the same page. I agree completely.

I won't let this drag out too long because no one seems up for defending BB's decisions. So let's move on.

BB decides to call the $200 bet from LP on the turn. There's now $619 in the pot when the miracle card arrives on the river: K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. The final board is as follows:

9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Question 5: Is there a plausible reason for BB to call the turn?

Question 6: What hand do you put LP on?

Question 7: With both players having $380 left, and with $619 in the pot, what is BB's best play on the river now that he made his set?

These are the last questions. After some comments, I will post a link to where I read about this hand. I guarantee that the link will surprise you.
