How to play this turn when hitting nut straight
Here's another hand I felt I didn't think through enough while playing it because I am bad at multitabling. I feel good about the checkraise, but how much should my raise be? And why? What would my raise be if the shortstack player had called on the turn? Why?
Full Tilt Poker Pot Limit Omaha Ring game Blinds: $0.25/$0.50 6 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG+1 covers me, SB is shortstack player with like $20 Pre-flop: (6 players) roggles is BB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, 2 folds, SB calls, roggles checks. Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($1.5, 3 players) SB checks, roggles bets $1.5, UTG+1 raises to $3.75, SB calls, roggles calls. Turn: 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($12.75, 3 players) SB checks, roggles checks, UTG+1 bets $11.5, SB folds, roggles raises all-in $45.75, UTG+1 folds. Uncalled bets: $34.25 returned to roggles. Results: Final pot: $35.75 |

Re: How to play this turn when hitting nut straight
I'd 3bet this flop hard. As played I like the C/R.

Re: How to play this turn when hitting nut straight
I am a beginner; I need slightly more detailed advice
Why should I 3-bet the flop? Someone has a higher flushdraw, right? UTG+1 might have a set. Why does it look good? What do I try to accomplish with my big raise. |

Re: How to play this turn when hitting nut straight
im not crazy about a 3bet here with 3 people in the pot. i dont think you have much fold equity here. and if they were to 4
bet you'd obv have to call the shove and if they both call you'll likely be in horrible shape. |

Re: How to play this turn when hitting nut straight
its opponent dependent whether i 3 bet the flop, but the reasoning for it is your lack of nut outs in your hand (i count 9??) so if you suspect a set you really want to get this HU and clean up a higher flush draw. however as you have a shortie in its going to be nigh on impossible to get him out if he actually turns up with a hand here, so maybe the flop call is a slightly better way of playing it

Re: How to play this turn when hitting nut straight
i didn't even see that we had a wrap before. i'm pretty sure i still like a call here on the flop. a set will most likely pay off the straight on the turn if its not a 5 on the turn. even if a 3 peels off theres a good chance you can stack a 6 high straight and theres no need folding him out on the flop.
