It\'s the End of the World as You Know It
Interesting, how many of these "this close" cold war stories are coming out now. In retrospect the monitoring systems seem rather sloppy, and prejudiced towards aggression...the opposite of what was claimed publicly. They couldn't have killed of the race but it would've been plenty nasty:
