Default MTT early stages question

Im mostly a ring player, but Im playing the 55$ 50 000 guaranteed at Stars.
I tend to play super tight in MTTs, but I generally play 10$. Should this same strategy work here.
Whats the best aproach for the early stages in a tourney like this one?? I sometimes feel I play a little too aggro for MTTs, since Im totally used to play shorthanded cash games.

Default Re: MTT early stages question

There's probably going to be two schools of thought on the subject, usually Accumulators vs. Survivalists.

As you know, the only way to win a tournament is by having all the chips at the end. Accumulators know this and will push small edges to build stack.

Survivalist know you cannot win a tournment in the first three levels and will mostly play premium hands but very aggressively. They may avoid coinflips situations as skill is their edge long term, rather than shorterm gambles.

I would suggest you look through the Anthology sticky at the topic which will cover the subject more knowleably than I can.
