Default suggestion for 2nd gen software

for poker tracker 2 and holdem manager-

the bb (big bet(2xbigblind)) as in ptbb/100, unit should just be bigblinds.

"big bet" isnt ever used in nl.

i understand the unit is arbitrary, just makes more sense to me to measure against the size of the big blind instead of measuring against twice the big blind.

runhot,

You are aware that PT lets you choose "PTBB/100" or BB/100, correct? Look under the Ring Game Player Statistics, Preferences Tab. There in a check box in the Game Levels section that states "Treat 'BB' For NL/PL As Big Blind Amt.".

I'm pretty sure that HM will also have something similar, if it doesn't already.

I'd love to see a standard though. Having two will be a huge pain in the butt on the forums.

Right now, poker data statistical standards are like opinions, everyone has one. But I agree with you Phil, it would be nice to agree on a standard.

The problem as I see it is that PL/NL doesn't have a "Big Bet", due to the nature of the game. So I believe the PTBB/100 was/is an attempt to compare apples to apples. The problem is not really "my bb/100 is not equal to your bb/100". It's more that I'm talking PL/NL and you're talking Limit. And it gets really confusing when a player plays both Limit and PL/NL. Maybe we should start comparing (or speaking in terms of) BB/100 (Limit Big Bet/100) vs. NLBB/100 (No Limit Big Blind/100).

Agreed. I don't see a problem with understanding the difference between ptBB and bb, but it's a common problem so obviously needs to be fixed.

Plain old bb/100 seems like the way to go, isn't comparing limit to NL/PL a smaller issue than the problem that it creates? There would obviously be a slightly confusing adjustment period for some, but I don't see another way.
