Default *** The Well: 1p0kerboy ***

Please just 1-2 questions at a time.

I am a professional online poker player. I've been playing as my sole source of income since December of 2006. I have been playing poker since 2003, and probably seriously since early 2004.

Fire away.

I always have to ask this one

What is the most common bad advice you hear on the forums?

Now...
What is the least common good advice you hear?

a) How old are you?
b) Why did you decide to become a professional poker player?
c) Are you happy with that decision overall? Is poker more or less fun now?

Damn hard question right off the bat.

There is a lot of good advice on these forums. I think the reason being is that nobody wants to get flamed for saying something that is incorrect. Having said that:

The biggest misconception I often see on these forums is sample size. Players will post results over what they think is a large sample but actually isn't. When you correct them they get mad.

The least common good advice is probably to be very selective in the table(s) you sit at. Of course this is sometimes a little impracticle for those of us who are playing a zillion table. But it's still an important topic that often gets missed.

a) 28. Just got married last year in Hawaii and now have 2 great step-sons. They really are awesome.
b) Lots of reasons. I enjoy the challenge. The money is better than what I was doing before (electrician). I choose my own hours. I can get up and just go rollerblading or go to the beach whenever I want.
c) I am very happy with the decision. Poker is an extrmemely stressful job and is much, much less fun now. But the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.

Should I not be able to play online poker anymore, I will go right back to doing what I was doing before. I am a licensed journeyman electrician.

Perhaps I would even supplement my income by teaching some electrical classes. I graduated the apprentice program (which is 4 years) at the top of my class.
