Default Any other closet Pokemon players out there?

Back in the original Gameboy Color days I used to love playing Pokemon. Im not talking about the game itself, but rather battling other people. There is a pretty good amount of strategy in that facet of the game. Anyhow, two of my daughters recently acquired their own Pokemon games and I've been feeling the urge again. Whose with me?! The whole pokemon battling scene is way too hardcore for me. I hear nowadays you have to have no life to be able to just compete.

Yeh it is kinda ridiculous. You have to breed them a million times until you get the right moves + natural tendencies combos, then train them from birth up to 100 only fighting against certain enemies that give points to the stats that you want to train. It scares me to think that people would devote that much to this game, but the single player is still charming simple fun to poop to.

Wow, I used to be very into both the cards and the games (the original Blue and Red, then Yellow versions). In terms of the cards, I battled seldom, opting to go after the 'rare' holographs. Good times...

The Penny Arcade guys posted about this Pokémadness. It sounds like a trip down the rabbit hole.

Dang you beat me to it Falcon. Did you read the post of the letter that the kid sent them about how he was going to quit playing pokemon until he heard about what the penny arcade did? That was pretty cool
