Okay guys, this is in active and it should be set into passive. HELP!!

"During the reign of Elizabeth I. England set up trading companies in Turkey, Russia, and the East Indies, explored the coast of North America, and established colonies there."

and:

"Aprofitable balance of trade ... would provide the wealth necessary to maintain and expand the empire"

thanks in advance

1) Trading companies were set up in Turkey, Russia, and the East Indies during the reign of Elizabeth I; the coast of North America was explored, and colonies established there by England.

2) The wealth necessary to maintain and expand the empire would be provided by[...] a profitable balance of trade.

Dunno, the first one is so long and rambly in the passive. There are probably a few different ways to do it, but they're all ugly.

Why would you want to change into passive voice?
