Default Ante discussion

What is the purpose of antes? What are the advantages of antes vs. just increasing the blinds so that the "M" factor is the same? How do antes change the game in the later stages of MTTs? How do antes change the game in a ring game/ why aren't there any ante NL cash games online? etc etc
please discuss

antes make the pot bigger preflop...do you really need more of an explanation?

As RBK said, antes obv. inflate the flop as now each person has a vested interest in each pot.It is not that common in standard CASH games.(i wish it was though)

In tournament play your M falls MUCH faster with antes,(usually after the 4/5th level)as you get deeper into the event. This factor alone makes for diff strategy, blind stealing being more profitable, inability to sit and wait for premium hands, etc.

it would make optimal strategy looser for sure, injecting action into the games with a turkey baster syringe
