I would not bet on this game, but if you had to bet it, take the 9ers.

The 9ers are if anything a little over-hyped right now. Their offseason looks so good on paper that it will be very hard to to live up to the hype.

On the other hand, they finished strong last year and come back with the same core guys, esp on offense.

They are in year 3 of the new regime and this bodes well.

The cards have a new coach and have proven nothing. The line is still suspect and if they haven't shored up that 0-line none of it is going to matter.

Luckily for them, SF's biggest glaring weak spot appears to be the pass rush. We'll see what happens and I wouldn't want to bet it, but i give the edge to SF mostly due to the addition of Clements and Lewis, plus the Cards breaking a new coach.

I don't see how -3 equates to "hype", they were a young team and will naturally improve. This game was probably -3 last year (not sure) and the 49ers are clearly a better team now than they were then, with the Cardinals being the same bad squad as always

I don't think there's any disputing that the 49ers (and Rams for that matter) have received the same inordinate amount of "fashionable sleeper" love from the media that the Cardinals usually get every summer.

But yeah the line certainly doesn't reflect this...I don't know how to explain that really.
