Default I\'d like to learn about finance.

Little background, I'm 24, earn a pretty decent income on an oil rig, I own a couple million $ worth of investment real estate, but I really don't know anything about investing. Real estate is all I know, its what I'm comfortable with, its what I do, and I haven't made any effort to learn anything else but I would like to branch out elsewhere.

I'd like to learn everything that a finance degree from a major university would teach me, without actually going to school.

What are some good books or primers to start with? Please assume I know nothing of the stock market or any basics of economics(which is basically true). I want to learn from the ground up and get a solid grasp on all the fundamentals.

I'm hoping someone could point me toward the right direction.

Get yourself a basic economics book, any one will probably do. Read that. Then get THE INTELLIGENT INVESTOR and A RANDOM WALK DOWN WALLSTREET. After you read those, you will know more about basic finance stuff than 90% of the population.

I'll second the recommendation for "A Random Walk Down Wall Street." Great book to keep you from making some common investing mistakes and to help you keep the big picture in mind.

Your first book should be The Warren Buffett Way, not a random walk down wall street.

A random walk is a great introduction into investing and the market. Before lookign at any styles (Buffett/Graham) I would read a book like this
