Monster pot with over pair
30/60, Straddle on board, straddle is too loose pre-flop, but pretty decent post flop. He likes to bluff heads up, but I haven't seen him get out of line on the big streets too much.
We're 7 handed, UTG+1 raises (he doesn't have much money left), solid player behind him 4 bets, I cap with red queens, straddle calls, and the other 2 call. 4 to the flop with 21 bets. 568 2 diamonds. Straddle bets, other 2 call, I call planning to raise a safe turn. Turn is a black T (12.5 bets) straddle bets, original raiser calls and is all in, solid player calls, I raise, straddle 3 bets, solid player calls, and it's on me. |

Re: Monster pot with over pair
i can't imagine doing anything but calling and seeing what the river card is. folding getting 21.5:1 would be horrible and 4-betting would be putting in way too much action

Re: Monster pot with over pair
Ok sorry should have put in OP, what's the plan for the river.
Edited to add it's 20.5:1 so if we give ourselves 2 outs it's a break even play to call. |

[/ QUOTE ] 9 bets went in on the turn so far so it should be 21.5:1 unless there's only 11.5BB going into the turn (i didn't bother counting, it's not a big deal). anyway, the river play really depends on what the river card is and how the action goes. but generally, i'm calling almost any river if the solid player folds and folding if the solid player comes to life. |

Re: Monster pot with over pair
What are we putting solid player on? I put him on a flush draw so if we are drawing to 2 pair as well that takes some of our outs away. We're drawing dead some of the time and are ahead a small percentage of the time. What is the consensus # of outs we can give ourselves?
Also one thing that went through my head is that we are likely forced to call a river bet if solid player folds so our odds are less than the 21.5:1 we're getting immediately. |

Re: Monster pot with over pair
I would have just gone ahead and raised the flop. Now your hand is a little-under repped and the turn is hard. I go ahead and call down.

Re: Monster pot with over pair
I would raise the flop, the middle guys are probably sharing outs, and the straddler might 3 bet. As played calldown.
