Default switch

so I bought a switch. The idea is I can hook the main cable line into the switch, and then hook as many computers wireless routers, etc... to the switch right? Am I missing anything? What IP do you get with multiple computers hooked into a switch?

a switch will physically connect them. To get multiple computers on one cable connection without buying IPs from your ISP you need to get a router that supports NAT.

This will allow every computer to have an internal priavte IP (like 192.168.1.100) and they all have the same public ip.

I'm confused. It sounds like a router will solve your problem. Also like Freakin said, what is up with pinging the local .58 address? I'm also confused by the .2.58?
