villain is 23/17/2.4 over 971 hands. his steal attempt is 29%, and his Cbet is 89%. i am fairly new to the table and have already 3bet a couple of times and 4bet once. i am playing about 21/17

i chose to call PF, and hit a good flop on a dry board. i thought there was little point in raising his Cbet as he would Cbet pretty much 100% on this flop. nothing much has changed on the turn IMO, anyone lead out on the turn? it is something i never do. so i thought that check calling was the best option again.

now the real question is what to do on the river. any plans? c/c? blocker bet? c/f?

i typically rr pf but calling can be okay i guess.

flop is fine.

turn i think is fine as well given his bet sizing. i would check the river most times, sometimes block.

Both check calling and donking the turn seem ok to me.

I think I lead the river for 1/2 pot. You are toast if you get raised.

Meh, 1/3 pot blocker is probably better.

i chose to just call because i had 3bet and 4bet a few times, so it was for balance.

i am always confused by the donk turn line when someone does it to me, and i never do it. when is it good to do it. is it a

'i know you will Cbet, so i call flop cos i have the best hand.'

then betting turn as if to say.

'lolz, i trapped you, i had the best hand, now i take over the betting lead, i don't wanna give you a free card.'

i think the way this is played preflop, especially if you've been actively reraising him pf that you have to call this down. bet / folding the river also has some merit, but 1/3 of pot is asking to get raised by most aggro players (which 90% cbet leads me to believe).

I like the turn call. If you bet out you may get him to fold worse hands where as you C/C you get him to bet worse hands/draws.

On the river I think the only way I would consider C/R is if an A came and I would have to really think about it. We have already C/C this far so I would have to be really scared about his range to not do it again. If a Q or J feel too I would probably feel a little uneasy if he bet again, thinking maybe he hit a set on the river and the he was betting again on the turn with the QQ/JJ thinking you weren't super strong. A 9 might suck on the river too.

Hmmm.... If it comes 2-8 on the river I would probably consider C/C. If it comes anything higher I would lean towards C/F or blocking for $30-40.

If you think you have the best hand on the turn then why would you want to donk bet UNLESS you knew they were going to call with a worse hand? It probably depends on the board as well but I just see some donk bets on the turn that aren't getting called by enough worse hands to make C/C or C/R more profitable.

Betting 1/2 pot + seems like it runs the risk of not getting called by a weaker king.

Yeah, sometimes you will get bluff raised. If that happens, I make a note and adjust accordingly.
