Thin valuebet?
Don't know much about villain only that he's 42, 17, 0.71 after 50 hands.
How do I play the river here. b/f c/c c/f. Figure he is not very likely to hold a monster cause he probably would have raised the turn. Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is BB with Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 folds, Button raises, SB folds, Hero calls. Flop: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4.5SB, 2 players) Hero checks, Button bets, Hero raises, Button calls. Turn: K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4.25BB, 2 players) Hero bets, Button calls. River: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (6.25BB, 2 players) Hero? |

Re: Thin valuebet?
Does he go to showdown often. Seems that he is enough passive so don't count on him bluffing you when you check to him. Just bet it. He will calldown with a lot of pocketpairs, any ten and any 9. That said the K [d] is not the best card which could hit and my have given him toppair or twopair. But I think since he do not raise he is probably drawing or calling you down with a pair. Betfold would be the best in my mindset. If you are ahead you will charge him onebet to showdown and if you are not you will loose one bet anyway so betfold is right.

Re: Thin valuebet?
I would bet the flop. Villain doesn't look aggressive post-flop and too many cards can hurt this hand.
Against passive opponent, b/f the river. |

Re: Thin valuebet?
Against this guy I would bet/fold the river. If you are against someone who will bet with more hands on the river than he will call with, then obviously check/call is the play but this paricular opponent doesnt look like that type of player. When you bet the river here you should expect to get called by many lesser hands. Based on the absolute value of your hand(top pair strong kicker on the flop) and the logic of the hand, you will have the nuts pretty often and he will have a 2nd best hand that wont fold pretty often also.

Re: Thin valuebet?
He could be calling down with A9, JT, 98 whatever. I would bet and fold to a raise. He probably turned a flush draw and may hold a pair as well. He is probably not going to bet his worst pair hands like 88 if you check the river, so you have to bet it. The value to checking is that he may bet a hand like AJ or a busted diamond draw, when he would fold those to a bet. But I think his hands are weighted far more towards pairs, and QT is a good hand on this board.

Re: Thin valuebet?
Yes, its a value bet. Your hand is pretty strong, so I don't think its very thin either. Folding to a raise against this player seems pretty reasonable as well.

Re: Thin valuebet?
Yeah, this guy is a great candidate for bet-folding oop to be correct.

Re: Thin valuebet?
Am I the only one who doesnt think this is very thin at all?
Him being extremly agro would be the only reason Id c/c... there is a LOT of air in his range right now, since any hand with a diamond, got to see the river... most of its folding. Fortuantly a lot of hands like A9, JT, and lower pairs are looking you up.. You also expect most hands better than you to have raised somewhere else in the hand. Maybe AA/Kx was frozen up by the diamond draw + straight draw completed, but he's likely betting those hands if you check.. You have to call because of all the possible draws in his range.. So you win/lose the same against those hands. |

Re: Thin valuebet?
'Berg and Oink are right, it's a clear value bet, not a thin one by any means.
