Default Prank Wars: uber-leveling?

In Jihad's sweet brag thread in OOT, BEP posted a link to these Prank Wars on collegehumor between Amir and Streeter.

First, watch all 6 -- scroll down to the first one and watch up from there.

Now, these guys are comedians and work for college humor. But the pranks seem pretty damn real, so I think they are. But I think there's another level going on, maybe, where the reactions are staged too. For example, when Streeter reveals the Human Giant prank to Amir in the apartment, Amir gets all upset and starts crying, then Rob and Paul from HG get all uncomfortable, saying "it's a prank war, dude, the stakes are supposed to escalate" and whatever. That stuff's funny because it looks like a HG sketch anyway. (Human Giant is my favorite sketch comedy since The State).

Also, in Prank 2, Streeter is going on an internet blind date... but in Prank 6, Streeter all of a sudden has a girlfriend that he could at least reasonably be proposing to (or so she thinks, given her slap).

So I want the LOL poll here: how much of this is a level?

That's a good point, the gf thing. She apparently said yes. It's also possibly that she's just crazy.

FWIW there's an interview on deadspin.com with the pranker. Apparenly she slapped him after he said "I don't want to [censored] marry you"

Those two pranks were done six months apart, so it's not unreasonable that a clingy chick could be interested in marriage after however long they were together.

No idea whether it's all real or not, but I hope it is, and it's certainly at least possible.

At the end when Amir calls Streeter and says "Congratulations" Streeters asks him what for, as if he didnt know that Amir was the one that set the prank up.

I call BS. He woulda known right away what had happend.

That last one was "over the line", why get that chick involved. And wtf is with that guy wimping out and crying in the previous prank. This leads me to think it might be faked, but ionno.

the first two of these are almost un watchable, this is not remotely funny or interesting.

My favorite was the Audition tape Amir sent in.... Not gonna spoil the outcome but I thought Amir's reaction was genuine in that prank.

The fact that they're not even close to marriage proposal is what makes it so funny. Their reaction after it is on the jumbotron and the fight seemed kind of stage.

Other than that, unless they're WAY better actors than they seem to be, it's gotta be real.

I think they're great.
