Internet Gambling: Antigua May Be Allowed To Violate US Copyrights

As reported on Slashdot and the New York Times, Antigua is asking for a W.T.O. ruling giving Antiguans permission to violate intellectual property laws by allowing them to distribute copies of American music, movies and software if the U.S. does not comply with the W.T.O. Order concerning Internet gambling. To comply with the W.T.O. Order, the U.S. would have to either: (1) permit Americans to place bets online legally with offshore casinos; or (2) impose an across-the-board ban on all forms of Internet gambling — including the online purchase of lottery tickets, participation in Web-based pro sports fantasy leagues and off-track wagering on horse racing.
