How Does Helmuth not get punch in the mouth?

I watched his performance the other night and was flat out disgusted with his shtick. Sure he is a mouth and talks but the stuff that comes out makes no sense. How does he not put that gal on a queen when she pushes all in and then he calls off his stack with the 10 and rails about her calling his preflop raise with K-Q. It does not matter if she had K-Q, A-Q, J-Q, there were so many hands that beat Phil yet he still Donkeyed off his chips to her. Everything that came out of his mouth about being the greatest player blah blah blah was negated by his call. What a complete bafoon.

But my main point is....how is it that no one has just beat the [censored] out of him before? He way he insults the players is beyond me...and then to shake their hand afterward which is such a disengenuous act...if I was one of those players I would tell him to take his hand and shove it up his arss. Why shake that tools hand? Shaking hands is a display of sportsmanship and Phil certainly displays none of that so you cant have it both ways.

But back to my main question: Why has not one just hauled off and sucker punched him with his remarks?

Allegedly, Sam Grizzle's sole redeeming feature is that he once decked Hellmuth.

However, I also wonder why it doesn't happen much more often.

Well, here in the civilized world, we try to settle minor disputes with words. We aren't ALL drunken idiots at bars throwing stools around.

Grizzle did take him outside of a casino and beat his ass. You gotta remember this whole Phil Hellmuth schtick is just that, a schtick. It's for him to get more TV time. If he gets more TV time UB gets more advertising and he gets paid more. Also, its so he can manipulate the table into thinking whatever he wants them to think. OP if you want to fight him I bet he'll fight you for a mil or some god awful number like that.

It may just be a shtick but at some point I would tell him to shut the fuq up unless he wants to eat pudding the rest of his life. That type of comment could be construed as a "shtick" as well. Or maybe tell him they are going to find out where he lives and do terrible things to his family, that too could be considered a shtick. I mean why should Helmuth be the one to dictate where the line is in terms of acceptable behavior? If his behavior is acceptable and it appears it is then I would take it ten fold and really make him think I am psycho and will do something to his family..that would really put him on tilt. Of course it would all be a "shtick".

Well, in most cases, I agree, and Hellmuth, while annoying, never seems to approach anything remotely resembling what would be called "fightin' words".

On the other hand, certain talk, like wrongly impugning someone's character or suggesting he was a cheat (like Prahlad with Lisandro last year) does cross that line, and often the person doing the talking needs to be politely informed that if the talk keeps up, things will be settled in a "less civilized" manner. As Lisandro did with Prahlad.

Threatening a guys family is not a shtick, its grounds for arrest. So you are going to threaten a guys family (even if it is a shtick according to you) because he annoys you? Is that just a commonplace for you to just try and fight people and threaten their families because they annoy you? Sounds kind of dumb to me.

YOu are missing my point. Point being where is the "line". Why is what he says ok but making references to how his wife looks like a wh0re or his kids ride the short bus not ok. I am not saying it is right, it is in fact wrong in my book. The point I am attempting to make is to give it back to him in a manner that will set him off much the same way he is attempting to set others off. That is what I am getting at. I mean can you imagine if after Helmuth said some of the things he said at the table the young kid to his left leaned over and whispered "hey Phil, your wife looks like a transvestite whore who enjoys the pipe". Just audible enough for Phil to hear. How hilarious would that be? Can you imagine Phils reaction.
