i hooked it into the controller and nothing happens am i retarded?

Make sure you have the volume scroller turned up. If that isn't the problem, try going into the options and make sure your voice output is going into the headset and not on mute.

you have to click the middle button on the controller and go into personal settings > voice > and unmute it etc
